| Title: The transitional housing development process and spatial structure in the peripheral neighbourhoods of Shanghai
Key words: Housing, peripheral neighbourhoods, spatial planning
Abstract: This PhD proposal intends to investigate the changing housing development process with mixed influences of state controls, market and local responses and illustrate their effects on the spatial structure of Shanghai’s peripheral neighbourhoods. Further a better understanding of their relationship may help planners, policy makers and private developers fine-tune the housing development process to fill the gap between housing demands and supply, and meet the housing plans.
